Soccer Champ

Saturday was Sam's first Soccer match with the Myrtleford Savoy Soccer Club U12's, he has been so excited about playing soccer this year and couldn't wait to get to training.. He's really improved with each training session and his confidence is amazing... We've gone through the whole excitement of needing new Soccer boots, socks and shin pads... I think the most exciting moment was getting his team shorts, it made it even more real... He's such a good kid, l'm so lucky to have such a wonderful boy who was happy to have a second hand soccer bag, he watches his sister dance and get all the wonderful things that come with dancing and never ever complains, and then says it doesn't worry him to have a old bag for soccer... I just wasn't having it, so off to the sports shop and he picked out the bag he wanted... It's that big smile on his face that makes it all worth it...
Saturday came and he was up at 6am getting his bag ready, a drink bottle and then sat around waiting for the rest of us to wake up and get out of bed... He was a bit nervous but more than anything very very excited to finally be running out on the field for his first game...
When we arrived at the soccer club he went straight over to his couch to get his shirt... All a long he has wanted to have the number 4 for his shirt but they hadn't said which numbers they would be getting, by the time l made it over to him he'd turned around holding up his shirt and there was the number 4... He was so happy... Ben, Tom and him gathered together and chatted about how excited they were and then we all sat and watch the U11's play their match... Finally it was time to run on the field and off they all went... It was so great seeing them all out their ready to play.... The coaches have been so amazing with Sam and everyone on the team has accepted Sam, Tom and Ben into the team making them feel part of the family straight away...
The game started and l was so proud of Sam running around giving it a go, he's really a good player, getting in there and trying for the ball and passing to his team mates... The high light of the day was him getting a goal, WOW how cool was that... We were all cheering and calling out to him and his team mates all ran up and patted him on the back and cheer... What a confidence boost for him... Way to go Sam.....
They won their first game 7-0 but is was a really good close match and certainly not a walk over at all... At the end of the game they all gathered around to listen to the coaches so Rick and l walked over to listen in.. They are such a great group of kids and so lucky to have wonderful coaches the praise them and give them so much encouragement, even telling the new players that they did a wonderful job for their first game... Then they announced that Sam was Player of the Match, wow how fantastic.. He really did play a great game for his first match and getting the goal really showed in the coaches eyes...
Do l sound like a proud mum at the moment... LOL l really am so proud and it's great to see everyone supporting Sam and cheering him on, just quietly l think he loved every moment of it...

Here are a few photos of the boys and them playing on Saturday....
